Abstract Preparation

Please submit your abstract through EDAS

All abstracts should be submitted following the WOLTE Abstract Template here

The recent progress in cryogenics technologies, along with the increasing interest in space-based communication, gives a new light to low-temperature electronics. The increasing interest in quantum technologies and nanodevices, most of which need low temperatures, are envisaged as the traditional area of interest of the WOLTE community.

This workshop series has a consistent policy of holding no parallel sessions, giving a unique opportunity to stimulate discussions among all the participants traditionally coming from a variety of semiconductor and superconductor related research fields

Authors are invited to submit an abstract of up to one page to the EDAS conference paper submission site.

In addition to the conference proceedings consisting of accepted abstracts, presenters at WOLTE16 will have the opportunity to submit an expanded paper to either IEEE's TAS or the TQE journals for publishing.

Author Registration

All abstract submissions must be completed through the EDAS website. Each lead author must have an EDAS account (with username and password).

  1. If you have an account, log in to EDAS and follow the Submission of Abstract instructions below.
  2. If you do not have an account, please visit the Submission Portal and click the link to create a new account.
  3. Create your profile. Only the five fields with the red asterisk are required. Please note that it is very important that your name and affiliation associated with your EDAS account are correct and match the name and affiliation that will be listed on your paper. These fields are: first & last name, affiliation (company or organization), country, e-mail address, and status. When the fields are filled in, check the Privacy Policies box and click the Add Person button. [note: if you select USA as the country, you will get a message asking for your state]
  4. You will receive an e-mail containing your password. Your email address and the given password must later be used to access the system during the following steps, so be careful to remember it.
  5. You can then return to the EDAS log-in page (https://edas.info/N32078) and change your assigned password to one that is easier to remember. To do this, click on the My Profile tab, and then click on change your password. Be sure to record your username, password and ID number for later reference.

Submission of Abstract

The maximum number of pages for abstract submission is 1. All abstracts should be submitted following the WOLTE Abstract Template here

To upload your PDF abstract to EDAS, please login at https://edas.info/N32078 and follow these steps:

  1. Click here to be taken to the WOLTE16 Submission Portal.
  2. Type in the title of your initial submission and select the topic area your paper falls under best. [note: This will help in choosing the reviewers. The PDF of your initial submission will be uploaded later]
  3. Click the Submit button.
  4. On the next page you will see a large green check mark and a statement that the paper was recorded.
  5. Manuscript is used to refer to the PDF form of your initial submission.
  6. The last row says Review Manuscript, and has an icon of a yellow folder next to it. Click on this icon, and then you can upload the PDF of your Abstract on the next page.
  7. You can also upload by clicking the My Papers tab at the top of the screen, and then select the upload icon on the same row as the name of your submission. The upload icon (third column from the right) will open a dialog box that will enable you to select and upload the Abstract file via the web or via FTP.

Submission to IEEE TAS or IEEE TQE

Authors who have made a presentation at WOLTE16 have the opportunity to prepare a manuscript for submission for peer review to either the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity (TAS) or the IEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering (TQE).

Access: TAS is "Green Open Access" and TQE is "Gold Open Access"

Manuscript submission should be done no later than 1 September 2024 and it is recommended that it be within 2 weeks of that deadline, not sooner. The submission must be within the scope of each journal as described on their respective websites.

With a sufficient number of submissions from WOLTE to each of these journals, the papers would be grouped together in a "Special Issue" for TAS and with a "Special code" referring to WOLTE16 for TQE (since TQE is published continuously). As "Gold Open Access" submissions to TQE, when accepted, require a payment of an "APC" (Article Processing Charge) by the author or their institution (for example through a possible "read-and-publish" agreement). However, as part of initiatives of the IEEE Council on Superconductivity (CSC) to encourage and promote the field of Quantum Information Science within IEEE, there will be the option to have the "APC" covered by CSC if the author does not have ready access to funds and/or if their institution does not have a "read-and-publish" agreement with IEEE. Requests to "APC" waivers may be submitted to the WOLTE16 Program Chair, Oleg Mukhanov, (omukhanov@seeqc.com) and will be given full consideration and a prompt response. Submissions to TAS do not require any author payment unless the author wishes to make them available on an Open Access basis. In such a case a similar option may be offered by CSC. As "Green Open Access" authors of TAS articles may post their accepted but pre-final-IEEE-formatting version of their manuscript on their own or their institution's website.

For any questions about the above, please contact the Program Chair at omukhanov@seeqc.com.
